The African-American actor, Jamie Foxx, began riding when he was offered a mare, Cheetal, for his birthday. Despite the horse’s inexperience as an actor, Foxx managed to convince Quentin Tarantino to take Cheetal to play in the movie as Django’s horse, Tony.

Thanks to this shooting, they both progressed but not without some struggles for the rider, of course. Jamie Foxx admitted that the most frightening moment of his life was to shoot a scene in a rampant gallop.
