How to Tell if Your Cat is Obese?
A cat is considered obese when they exceed 20% of the total body weight, which depends on the breed and morphology. According to the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention, it is estimated that 59% of cats in the US are overweight or obese.
One of the easiest ways to monitor your kitty’s weight, besides actually weighing, is the palpation of the animal. If it’s difficult to feel the cat’s palpitation due to the fat mass, then it can only indicate that your pet is obese and needs immediate help.
